What you can do with text
For text layers, use the Text tab to adjust the text itself, the Decoration tab to add Outline, Shadow, Line, and Background, and the Position tab to adjust placement.

Operating procedure

Select a text layer
Click the text in the preview or choose the text layer on the right.

Adjust text in the Text tab
Set the text, font, color, size, direction, alignment, and spacing.

Add appearance settings in the Decoration tab
Add Outline, Shadow, Line, and Background as needed.

Adjust placement in the Position tab
Adjust the text anchor position, movement amount, rotation, and stacking order. The Position tab works the same way for materials and images.
Differences in decoration

| character | You can use Outline, Shadow, Line, and Background. With per-character decoration, you can also change the color or size of selected characters only. |
| Materials | You can use Outline and Shadow. Line and Background are not shown for materials. |

Check points
- Only text layers show Line and Background in the Decoration tab.
- Use per-character decoration to apply color, size, and other settings only to selected characters.
- Position is shared by text, materials, and images. Detailed steps are collected on the Position page.
When you are in trouble
If settings for materials or images are shown even though you selected text, check the selected layer in the Layers tab.
